The Fund “Republic Sport” was established in 2003. Our mission is to attach political importance to children’s sports issue and involve large sections of public to consider the question of physical education for youngsters in Russia, particularly, for orphans and children with disabilities. These children, being largely deprived of public care and attention, need to be supported.
I am sure that we have appeared to be the first in Russia to raise the question of sports for handicapped children and started to take active measures to solve it.
Every year there is an increasing number of popular cultural workers, politicians and businessmen, who started to pay a great heed to child’s and youth sports development, having recognized its importance and social relevance. Many famous sportsmen, even “the football king” Pele, come to coach children and communicate with them.
We have done and achieved much since the fund’s establishment. But we fully realize how many children in Russia and in the whole world are still deprived of attention and proper care. Today we are striving to involve foreign children to participate in our competitions. We hope that it will not only prompt new traditions of international children’s tournaments, but also set a productive cooperation between countries, participating in field of sports for handicapped children.
